Mood: Semi-Tired
Listening To: Tak tau lagu apa yang bising dari pembesar suara ShitHole..
I never expected this, but I spent a total of RM 105.71. The RM64.12 would be on
The Alphabet of Manliness,
which is the book of pure dopeness, and the best book in the universe..
Guahahahahaha.. Extremely fragile.. I have to handle it with care when
I'm on the bus. You all can touch it with a simple fee of RM 40.
Many thanks to jiejie,
Caryn Foo Poh Yuen,
for showing me the dope computer to search for the overall stock for
the books in the bookshop, and persuading the staffs to stress
themselves to serve their
humble soon-to-be loyal customer.
Soon-to-be: I saw a lot
of other music books I was interested in, mostly to advance my guitar
knowledge from rusting, which is happening now, and a couple of live
DVDs I spotted which costed more than at least RM100.
Anyways, what was the other RM41.59 for? Simple.
It was for this book which caught my eye. A thin book, which only
consisted of 40 pages. And it was the only book left in the
bookshop. It was written by
Joe Satriani, the mentor of
Steve Vai,
throughout his years of experience in guitars. If I'm not
mistaken (lazy to refer to book), he started writing from 1980's till
the 1990's. Each month, represented a different lesson he would
share with his students.
I just
bought this book for fun
because I never bothered to spend my money on books for guitars, and
I'm glad that my attitude has taught me a new lesson. The books
that we will pick, would be very important.
"Knowledge is power" - Joe Satriani.
Power, indeed. Unlike most books sold in Penang, when you see a
famous guitarist's name imprinted on the book itself, it would teach
you the song for the artist, and never private lessons,
unlike this one.
41 private lessons featured in some guitar book, and wow. I've
learnt so much, until I can't remember all. I just learnt new
chords which makes a song sound more ambience-ish and really swell.
I don't know. I only know that this book has opened a few more
paths in my musical journey, instead of me, standing on the edge of the
cliff. I have been doing that ever since the 2nd month of
National Service. I tried so hard, but I didn't have any guidance
to continue and further my musical knowledge.
Knowledge
is power. I'm
guided by the amazing knowledge of Joe Satriani for the moment. I
will concentrate more on this book when I get back to KL, or when I'm
in the bus, this coming Friday. In this book, it features
theories, modes, scales, an amazing map of the
harmonic positions
on every guitar's neck (It's amazing!), and so many more. This
journal can never explain how much I've learnt in such little time, nor
can it explain how much I will learn after reading this book.
Joe Satriani? He's awesome and his knowledge in music; and explaining it, makes guitars
more fun than it used to be!
Thanks Caryn, for dragging all of us
to KLCC although we were all half dead because we slept late the night
before.. Wahahahahaha..
Tomorrow's day 3. Main event(s): Tidurmanliness, Carynloveness,
Celebrity retardism, and Emcee David's Album Launch. Dope
sial. Although I need to look for new shoes though -_-.
Toodles. Hungry now, and I wanna read up
The Alphabet of Manliness.. The shoutout section x)
